Peterborough Police Service moves to Verified Alarm Response Program
Peterborough, ON February 2, 2024
As of March 1st, 2024, the Peterborough Police Service will be joining other police services by introducing a Verified Alarm Response Program (VARP). This means Alarm Monitoring Services will be required to verify any alarm signal they receive prior to notifying police.

Cameras have been installed and officers have been trained on the system which is in all marked and some unmarked cruisers.

PETERBOROUGH, Thursday, February 9, 2023: Peterborough Police Service now has three (3) Mobile Crisis Intervention Teams working in the communities of Peterborough, Lakefield and Cavan-Monaghan.
Two of the pairings are in partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (CMHA HKPR) and the third is in partnership with Peterborough Regional.

Tactical Emergency Medical Support UnitThe Peterborough Police Service (PPS) in collaboration with the Peterborough County/City Paramedics have created a new Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TACMEDS) unit that will enable paramedics to better care for those involved in high-risk emergency situations. The specially trained 4-member paramedic team will be able to provide on-the-spot care to police, victims, or others.

PSD Wolfe was donated by the Knights of Columbus and spent seven years working the streets of Peterborough with his friend and partner PC Tim Fish.
