Police Services in Ontario are governed by the Community Safety in Policing Act (2019). This updated legislation came into effect on April 1, 2024. 

In accordance with Provincial Adequacy Standards our mandate, as a police service, is to provide services in the following key areas of Crime Prevention, Law Enforcement, Victim Assistance, Public Order and Maintenance, Emergency Response and Administration and Infrastructure.

The Peterborough Police Service is a dedicated group of men and women who serve the communities they police to the highest professional standards.

The over 100 community based committees on which we have representation commit our members to the betterment of the community as a whole.
