Outreach Teams
The Peterborough Police Service has three different outreach programs:
- Mobile Crisis Intervention Teams (MCIT)
- Addictions Specialist Team
- Intimate Partner Violence Outreach Workers
MCIT
The Peterborough Police Service's Mobile Crisis Intervention Team (MCIT) consists of three teams:
- 2 Teams = a Police Constable partnered with a Mental Health Worker from the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA)
- 1 Team = a Police Constable partnered with a RPN (Registered Practical Nurse) from the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. This third partnership is the result of a successful MCRT Enhancement Grant application through the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
The MCIT is a primary and secondary response unit that responds to calls involving individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
Both the mental health workers, the RPN and officers have extensive experience in mental health and are passionate about their field. The teams respond in a uniform capacity and in an unmarked police vehicle.
The team can be reached at mcit@peterboroughpolice.ca or 705-876-1122 x297

Addictions Specialist Team
In January 2026, a new Addiction Specialist Team was formed within the Peterborough Police Service consisting of a police constable and an addictions counsellor. This program is part of Fourcast's Police Outreach Program.
The team has been tasked with outreach and foot patrol to check-in with unhoused and vulnerable people in our community. They will also respond to Calls for Service such as open-air drug usage, wellbeing checks, and unwanted persons. Further, the team will liaise with community partners in this space (e.g. shelters, hospital, HART Hub services and other outreach groups) to continue to build positive relationships.
Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Outreach Workers
In December 2025, the Peterborough Police Service was successful in receiving a Victim Support Grant. Through this grant, two outreach workers were hired and will be serving with us from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027.
The outreach workers will be supporting frontline officers on IPV calls for service. They will be providing residents with information on supports available and making connections as soon as possible.
Both workers are supported through the grant provided by the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
