Victim Services

The Peterborough Police Victim Services Unit is a trauma-informed, evidence-based model of victim assistance for those affected by crime or tragic circumstances in the City of Peterborough, Village of Lakefield and Township of Cavan-Monaghan.

The Unit is composed of two civilian staff who are both Registered Social Workers who provide emotional and practical support.

Victim Services can assist with:

  • brief trauma and grief counselling
  • community referrals
  • safety planning
  • information regarding the Justice System and the Rights of Victims of Crime

Facility Dog Tilly who received Accredited training from National Service Dogs, works with Victim Services and is available to assist with:

  • victim interviews
  • court accompaniment
  • community engagement
