Seized/Found/Unclaimed Property and Monies:
Sections 258 and 259 of the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019, set out that a Chief of Police may cause property or money (if unclaimed for 3 months) that comes into the possession of a Police Service as a result of being stolen or abandoned, or seized by a police service and no court order exists regarding its disposition, to be sold or retained, and the Police Service Board may use the proceeds for any purpose that it considers in the public interest, including a charitable donation.
Auction Fund Requests:
Any charitable group operating within the City of Peterborough, Township of Cavan Monaghan or Ward of Lakefield may make a request to the Board for an Auction Fund donation.
All donation requests must be received by the Board's Executive Assistant no later than 14 days prior to the Board's next regularly scheduled meeting to allow the Executive Assistant to prepare a detailed report for the Board.
