Street-Level Robbery Investigation

The Peterborough Police Service is investigating a street-level robbery that happened Tuesday evening.

At approximately 9:50pm on August 4, 2026, officers were called to the area of Rink Street and Aylmer Street after a report that the victim had a gold chain stolen at knifepoint. Upon arrival, officers searched the area but did not locate a suspect. The victim was not injured in the incident.

The suspect was described to police as:

  • White male
  • 30-40 years old
  • Grey sweatpants
  • Grey sweater
  • Bald

Motor Vehicle Collision – Monaghan Road and Cameron Street

Charges have been laid against a 22-year-old Lindsay man after a two-vehicle collision in Peterborough last month.

On July 30, 2026, the man, who was the driver of a car, attended the Peterborough Police Station and was arrested and charged with the following: 

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Dangerous operation
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Race a motor vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Red light - fail to stop (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Class G1 licence holder - unaccompanied by qualified driver (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Driving while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Driving while under suspension - while suspended under HTA Sec 41/42 (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Driver - fail to properly wear seat belt (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit (Highway Traffic Act
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor (Liquor License Control Act)

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court September 8, 2026.

Stunt Driving Charges

Officers with the Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit laid two stunt driving charges Monday.

In the first incident, a 24-year-old male driver was recorded going 103km/h in a 50km/h zone on Lily Lake Road at approximately 10:15am on August 3, 2026. The driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with speeding and stunt driving, issued an automatic license suspension of 30 days and the vehicle impounded for 14 days.  Two passengers also received tickets for not wearing their seatbelts.

In the second incident, a 34-year-old male driver was recorded going 95km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone on Clonsilla Avenue at approximately 5:15pm on August 3, 2026. The driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with speeding and stunt driving, issued an automatic 30-day license suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment.
