Weapons Arrest
A 44-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Wednesday evening.
At approximately 10:40pm on July 22, 2026, officers were called after a man reported having a knife pulled on him by an unknown male in a parking lot in the Romaine Street and Park Street North area. The suspect also verbally threatened the victim before leaving the area. The victim was not injured. The suspect was not located at the time.
At approximately 2:00am on Thursday, July 23, 2026, officers on general patrol in the area of Park Street and Romaine Street located a man matching the description given to police in connection with the earlier incident and took him into custody. During a search after arrest, officers located and seized a small folding knife.
As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault with A Weapon
- Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm
- Possession of weapon for Dangerous Purpose
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, July 23, 2026.
Motor Vehicle Collision – Monaghan Road and Cameron Street
A collision Wednesday afternoon has sent one person to a Toronto hospital and another to Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
At approximately 4:50pm on July 23, 2026, officers were called to a two-vehicle collision between a car and a truck in the intersection of Monaghan Road and Cameron Street in Peterborough. Shortly before the collision, the car was seen travelling at a high rate of speed. The driver of the car was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre and then flown to a Toronto hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the truck was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment of minor injuries.
The area was closed while officers with the Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit conducted a collision reconstruction investigation and the traffic lights repaired.
The investigation is ongoing.
