Sudden Death
The Peterborough Police Service was called to the area of the London Street foot bridge and Parkhill Road just before 5:00pm after reports of a person in the water. Officers attended the scene, pulled the person out of the water and attempted lifesaving measures. The person was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre where they were pronounced deceased. The death is not considered suspicious at this time and the Coroner is investigating.
Stunt Driving
A 20-year-old driver is facing a stunt driving charge after a stop on Aylmer Street Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 1:00pm on June 9, 2026, a Peterborough Police Service traffic officer was on general patrol in the area of McDonnell Street and George Street when a vehicle was spotted driving erratically. The vehicle turned onto Aylmer Street toward Parkhill Road and accelerated reaching a recorded speed of 104 km/hr in a 50km/hr zone. The officer activated their emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop.
As a result, the 20-year-old driver was issued a ticket for stunt driving and was given a 30-day license suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment.
