Break and Enter Arrest

A 44-year-old man wanted in connection with a break and enter earlier this month was located and arrested Tuesday.

On July 13, 2026, officers were made aware of a break and enter at a building in the King Street and George Street area in which several bicycles, tools and antiques were taken. 

On July 21, 2026, officers with the Community F.I.R.S.T Unit spotted a man matching the description of one of the suspect and took him into custody.  

As a result, a 44-year-old man from the Cobourg area was arrested and charged with:

  • Break, Enter a place - with intent to commit indictable offence

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, July 22, 2026.

 

Break and Enter Arrest

A 42-year-old man is facing charges in connection with two incidents over the past couple of weeks.

On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, officers were called to a business on Hunter Street after a report of a smashed window and a set of keys taken.  The incident happened at approximately 4:50am that morning.

On Monday, July 20, 2026, officers were called to a business on Charlotte Street in which the glass on the front door had been smashed and over $5,000 in property and cash was taken.  The incident happened at approximately 4:50am that morning.

Through investigation it was determined that the same person was involved in both instances.

At approximately 8:30pm on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, an officer on general patrol spotted a man matching the description of the suspect and took them into custody.

As a result, a 42-year-old man from the Ottawa area was arrested and charged with:

  • Break, Enter A Place - Commit Indictable Offence X2
  • Fail To Comply With Probation Order X2

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court July 22, 2026.

 

Motor Vehicle Collision – Update

Charges have been laid against a 79-year-old Peterborough driver in connection with a collision in May 2026.

As a result of an investigation by officers with the Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit, on Monday, July 20, 2026, a 79-year-old Peterborough driver was charged with:

  • Careless driving causing bodily harm (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Operate unsafe vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Improper braking (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Operate Ebike or vehicle on sidewalk (Peterborough Bylaw-Active Transportation14-096)
