Assault Arrest

A 30-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident last week. 

On Friday, September 4, 2026, officers were made aware of an incident involving a ride share driver booked through a community chat. Officers learned that the 59-year-old victim had booked the ride for Wednesday, September 2, 2026 in order to attend an appointment in the GTA. The victim grew concerned that they would not make the appointment as the driver started picking up other passengers. When the victim asked to be dropped off, the driver became verbally aggressive before pulling over on Goodfellow Road, shoving the passenger out of the vehicle and taking off with the victim’s backpack in the trunk. The vehicle stopped a short distance away and another passenger put the bag on the sidewalk before the vehicle left the area.  The victim received minor injuries from the incident.

As a result of the investigation, on Friday, September 4, 2026, a 30-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault
  • Mischief - destroys or damages property

The accused was also issued a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act which:

  • Prohibits picking up a passenger for compensation (money or payment) without a required license, permit, or authorization

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court November 24, 2026.

 

Impaired Arrest

A 31-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident early Saturday morning.

At approximately 12:23am on September 5, 2026, officers received a call about a possible impaired driver in the area of Lansdowne Street and Brealey Drive.  The caller reported the vehicle swerving on the road and reaching speeds near 90km/hr in a residential area. Officers located the vehicle in the Tully Crescent and Ireland Drive area and while speaking with the driver noticed signs of impairment. 

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court October 13, 2026.

 

Cause Disturbance Arrest

A 24-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident early Saturday morning.

At approximately 2:50am on September 5, 2026, officers were called to the area of George Street North and Charlotte Street about a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spotted a male attempting to fight others.  They managed to de-escalate and sent him on his way with friends. Several minutes later, they received another call about the same person causing a disturbance in the area of Hunter Street and George Street. Upon arrival to that location one officer drew their conducted energy weapon (CEW) while several others took the man into custody where he continued to resist arrest.

As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Causing a Disturbance
  • Resist Peace Officer

The accused was further issued a ticket under the Liquor License Control Act for:

  • Being intoxicated in public place

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court November 24, 2026.

 

Mischief Arrest

A 25-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after a call about suspicious activity.

At approximately 10:00am on September 5, 2026, officers were called to the corner of Albert Street and Monaghan Road about wire being removed from hydro poles. Upon arrival, officers located one man matching the description given to police actively trying to get wire off the pole. Officers approached, took him into custody and seized wire and bolt cutters.

As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Mischief under $5000

The accused is currently bound by two probation orders and was also charged with:

  • Fail to comply with probation X2

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court November 24, 2026.

 

Hit and Run Arrest

A 22-year-old Cavan Monaghan Township man is facing charges after an incident Saturday night.

At approximately 11:30pm on September 5, 2026, officers were called to the Manor Drive and McGuire Drive area after a report a vehicle left the roadway and struck a parked vehicle.  Upon arrival, officers learned the driver had fled the scene, leaving an injured passenger. The passenger was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment before being transported to a Toronto hospital for treatment.

On September 6, 2026, the 22-year-old driver of the vehicle turned himself into police.  As a result of the investigation, he was charged with:

  • Fail to stop at accident resulting in bodily harm

It was also learned that the driver was prohibited from driving and had several other driving restrictions.  He was further charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Driving while under suspension
  • Drive motor vehicle - no license
  • Careless driving
  • Drive motor vehicle - not equipped with ignition interlock device

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court December 1, 2026.

 

Drug Arrest

A 47-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after a traffic stop early Sunday morning.

At approximately 12:37am on September 6, 2026, officers were clearing from an unrelated call when they spotted a vehicle with the trunk not secured.  Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop.  It was learned through the traffic that the driver was a suspended driver and took her into custody. During a search of the vehicle after arrest officers seized:

  • 6.1grams of Crack Cocaine
  • 5 - Hydromorphone pills
  • 2.5grams of Marijuana
  • Drug paraphernalia (including weigh scales, clear plastic bags, measuring cup, empty pill bottle)
  • Canadian currency

As a result of the investigation, a 47-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Driving while under suspension – Highway Traffic Act

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on September 6, 2026.

 

Break and Enter Arrest

A 44-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after officers were called to a break and enter in progress.

At approximately 3:15pm on Monday, September 7, 2026, officers attended a fenced in lot in the Ashburnham Drive and Lansdowne Street East area after receiving reports of a man wearing a ski mask attempting to take wire from the lot. Upon arrival, officers located a man matching the description given to police hiding on the property.  He was taken into custody without incident.  During a search of the suspect’s backpack after arrest, officers seized several sets of pliers.

As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence
  • Possession Break In Instruments

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, September 8, 2026.
