Impaired Arrest

A 36-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Wednesday morning.

At approximately 9:40am on July 29, 2026, officers received a call from a concerned citizen about a man passed out in a vehicle that was in a live lane of traffic. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle in the intersection of Romaine Street and Park Street North. Through conversation with the driver, it was learned that he was a suspended driver and took him into custody. During a search after arrest, officers located several knives and drug paraphernalia. They also learned that the driver did not have permission to be driving the vehicle and was also in possession of a cell phone that had been reported stolen.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 - in Canada
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Driving while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Green light - fail to proceed as directed (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Thank you to the concerned citizen who called 9-1-1 to report a possible impaired driver. 

 

Youths Arrested

Two Peterborough teens are facing charges after a call for service Wednesday evening.

At approximately 9:15pm on July 29, 2026, officers were called to the area of Rink Street and George Street about a report of a young person brandishing a knife during a verbal altercation. Upon arrival to the area, officers located a youth known to police a short distance away and took him into custody. Through investigation it was determined that the youth was not involved in the original incident but was found to breaching a sentence order and failing to comply with probation. Officers seized a lighter from the teen.

A short time later Community F.I.R.S.T officers were approached by bystanders indicating a young person near the footbridge had a knife. Officers located a teen matching the description previously given to police on the other side of the bridge, took him into custody, located and seized a knife.

As a result of the investigation:

A 13-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:

  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court (not with surety or at designated residence)
  • Allegation of Breach of Conditional Sentence Order X2 (possession of a lighter, not obeying curfew)

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, July 30, 2026.

A 15-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court September 14, 2026.

 

Road Rage Incident

A 46-year-old Oshawa man is facing charges after a road rage incident Tuesday morning.

At approximately 8:25am on July 28, 2026, officers were called to Spillsbury Drive near Forster Avenue about reports of an aggressive vehicle that had passed on a solid yellow and once in front of the other vehicle started aggressively brake checking.

As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old Oshawa man was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Careless driving
  • Stunt driving which includes a 30-day license suspension 

The driver was given a court date of September 28, 2026.

 

Warrant Arrest

A 31-year-old Peterborough man wanted on a warrant for an incident on July 15, 2026, was arrested Wednesday morning.

At approximately 7:30am on July 29, 2026, officers were called to the area of Reid Street and Simcoe Street about an unwanted person. Upon arrival, officers located the male and determined he was wanted in connection with an incident on July 15, 2026, in which a store employee had items thrown at them while attempting to stop a theft.  No one was injured.

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrant and charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Assault
  • Theft under $5000

As the warrant was endorsed, the accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court, October 20, 2026.
