Impaired Arrest
A 24-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident Wednesday evening.
At approximately 7:45pm on July 1, 2026, officers were called to the area of Clonsilla Avenue and Lansdowne Street in Peterborough. Upon arrival, officers spotted a vehicle with damage to the front of the vehicle. While speaking with the driver, officers noticed signs of impairment. During a search after arrest, officers located a quantity of cocaine and several licenses in the suspects name.
As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old Peterborough was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
- Possess more than one license (Highway Traffic Act)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court August 11, 2026.
A second man connected to the vehicle was arrested and given a ticket for public intoxication (Liquor License Control Act) after repeatedly interfering with the investigation.
RIDE Detail
Officers with the Peterborough Police Service conducted a RIDE Detail on Canada Day.
In total, officers administered 10 roadside tests, with one warning, one suspended driver ticketed and three provincial offence tickets issued.
A reminder to all motorists that road safety is everyone’s responsibility and to plan ahead for a safe ride home, stay overnight, or book a taxi or ride share.
Warrant/Assault Arrest
Two people wanted on warrants and in connection with an assault earlier this week are facing charges after a traffic stop Wednesday morning.
At approximately 11:50am on July 1, 2026, an officer on general patrol conducted a traffic stop in the area of Stewart Street and Brock Street in Peterborough. Upon speaking with the people in the car, it was learned that two of the passengers were wanted on warrants. Furthermore, it was determined that they were also wanted in connection with an assault Monday evening in the Parkhill Road and Monaghan Road area.
As a result of the investigation:
A 34-year-old Peterborough man wanted for break and enter, sexual assault, fail to comply with release order was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with:
- Assault
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, July 2, 2026.
An 18-year-old Peterborough woman wanted for possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, fail to attend for fingerprints, fail to comply with release order, fail to comply with undertaking and fail to attend court was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:
- Assault
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court July 2, 2026.
