Sudden Death
Officers with the Peterborough Police Service were on scene at a park in the Stewart Street and Sherbrooke Street area for a sudden death investigation Wednesday, August 5, 2026. The Coroner’s Office is investigating and at this time the death is not considered suspicious.
Drug Arrest
A 41-year-old man is facing charges after an investigation by officers with the Peterborough Police Service Drug and Intelligence Unit.
On August 5, 2026, officers spotted a man wanted on a warrant in another jurisdiction in the area of Monaghan Road and Albert Street area. Officers took the man into custody and during a search after arrest seized:
- 39 grams of Crystal methamphetamine
- 1.1 grams of Crack cocaine
- 1.1 grams of Fentanyl
- 120 various pills (opioids)
- 15 Hydromorphone pills
- 136 Dilaudid pills
- Canadian Currency
As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Crack Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Oxycodone
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Hydromorphone
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Fentanyl
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, August 6, 2026.

Property Check
Police Service Dog (PSD) Gryphon assisting with the arrest of two people after a property check call Wednesday morning.
At approximately 10:00am on August 5, 2026, officers were called to an abandoned home in the Aylmer Street and Dalhousie Street area about two people seen inside the residence. Upon arrival, officers could hear two people inside and called out to them to come out. When they did not, PSD Gryphon was deployed, barking into the home. The two people exited after hearing the dog.
A 56-year-old Peterborough man was issued provincial tickets for trespassing.
A 31-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested for breaching a conditional sentence order with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to remain in their residence. She was held in custody and appeared in court on August 5, 2026.
