Robbery/ Weapon Arrest

A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges after an incident Friday evening.

At approximately 4:15pm on Friday, July 10, 2026, officers were called to the area of Brock Street and Chambers Street after a report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, officers learned that a victim had been assaulted with a piece of wood. Officers learned the suspect had left the area prior to police arrival. The description of the suspect was aired for observation, and a man matching the description was located in the area of Murray Street.  

Through the investigation it was further learned that the suspect had taken property from the victim while the victim was assaulted.

As a result, a 28-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • ·       Assault with a weapon
  • ·       Robbery with violence
  • ·       Fail to comply with probation order x4

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on July 11, 2026.

 

Assault / Impaired Operation Arrest

A 34-year-old Selwyn man has been charged with various offences from an incident on Friday night.

On Friday, July 10, 2026 at approximately midnight, Peterborough Police Dispatch received a call from a victim stating that they had been assaulted by their partner while in a vehicle. The vehicle was believed to be in the downtown area. Officers canvassed the area and located the vehicle in the area of Rubidge Street and Parkhill Road. Officers made contact with the driver and noticed signs of impairment.

While conducting the investigation into the intimate partner violence (IPV) and the suspected impaired driving, the suspect became uncooperative and spat at police officers.

As a result, the 34-year-old Selwyn man was charged with:

  • ·       Assault – Spousal
  • ·       Assault a Peace Officer
  • ·       Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • ·       Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on July 11, 2026.
