Impaired Arrest

A 28-year-old Janetville man is facing charges after an incident Friday night.

At approximately 9:10pm on August 21, 2026, an officer on general patrol witnessed a motor vehicle collision in the intersection of McDonnel Street and Reid Street in which a vehicle entered the intersection just as the light turned red and struck a vehicle from behind.  Upon speaking with the driver of the second vehicle, officers noticed signs of impairment.  A passenger in the second vehicle was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre with minor injuries and a toddler in the vehicle was not injured.  The driver of the vehicle that was rearended was not injured.

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Janetville man was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court September 29, 2026.

Youth Arrests

Two teens are facing charges in connection with three separate incidents from Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 6:20pm on August 22, 2026, officers were called to the area of McDonnel Street and Monaghan Road about a group of teens, one brandishing a knife, who approached and confronted another teen. Upon arrival, officers searched the area and located two males matching the description of the two people who were involved in the confrontation. During a search after arrest officers located and seized a multi-tool pocketknife from one of the teens.

As a part of the investigation, officers learned of two other incidents involving the same teenagers.

In the first, a group of three teenagers reported being chased and assaulted by two teens in the area of the train bridge near George Street and Dalhousie Street.  Two of the victims were taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre afterward for treatment and released.

In the second, a convenience store employee reported a teen entered the store and took an item, then left without paying.  The teen returned about 30 minutes later and when told they could not enter the store, threatened the clerk by saying he had a knife before the group fled.

As a result of the investigations:

A 15-year-old Peterborough male was arrested in connection with all three incidents and charged with:

• Assault X2
• Assault with A Weapon
• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
• Failure to comply with undertaking
• Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm
• Theft Under $5000- SHOPLIFTING

The accused is currently bound by an undertaking with the following conditions: to not possess any weapons as defined by the Criminal Code.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

A 15-year-old Peterborough male was arrested in connection with two of the incidents and charged with:

• Assault X2
• Assault with A Weapon
• Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

Warrant Arrest

A 33-year-old Peterborough woman wanted on three warrants was arrested by Community F.I.R.S.T. Unit and further investigation has resulted in charges in connection with four other incidents.

At approximately 4:50pm on August 22, 2026, officers with Community F.I.R.S.T spotted the woman walking, aware she was wanted on warrants they stopped and took her into custody.

During further investigation the officers determined the woman was also wanted in connection with four other reports that had been filed between July 10, 2026, and July 29, 2026.

As a result, a 33-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:

• Theft Under $5000 X4
• Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court

The accused is currently bound by a release order with the following conditions: to not attend any LCBO store in the City of Peterborough.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

Mischief Arrest

Two Peterborough men are facing charges in connection with a theft after an online report was filed.  

On Friday, August 14, 2026, officers received an online report about an air conditioning unit and copper wiring being stolen from a building in the Hunter Street West and Reid Street area. Through investigation officers had identified two suspects wanted in connection with the theft.

At approximately 12:25pm on August 22, 2026, officers with the Community F.I.R.S.T Unit were in the area of Lansdowne Street and Monaghan Road on an unrelated call when they spotted a man wanted in connection with the theft of the air conditioner and copper wire.  The man was taken into custody without incident.

At approximately 11:50pm on August 22, 2026, officers received a call for several unwanted persons in the area of Reid Street and Simcoe Street.  While attending to disperse the crowd, officers recognized one of the people as being wanted in connection with the theft of the air conditioner and copper wire.  The man was taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation:

A 31-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

• Mischief over $5000

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

A 37-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

• Mischief Over $5,000
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
