Impaired Arrest
A 17-year-old Ennismore male is facing impaired charges after an incident early Saturday morning.
At approximately 3:35am on August 15, 2026, officers on general patrol spotted a vehicle in a parking lot with a damaged front tire. Upon approach, officers noticed signs of impairment with the driver.
As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old Ennismore male was arrested and charged with:
- Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
- Young Driver - B.A.C. Above Zero (Highway Traffic Act)
- Novice Driver - B.A.C. Above Zero (Highway Traffic Act)
- Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor (Liquor License Control Act)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court September 28, 2026.
Shoplifting Arrest
A 34-year-old Lakefield man is facing a shoplifting charge after an incident Friday morning.
At approximately 11:45am on August 14, 2026, officers with Community F.I.R.S.T. were called about a theft in progress at a store in the Park Street and Lansdowne Street area. Upon arrival, officers learned that the man had left the store on a bicycle. They spotted a man matching the description given to police heading northbound on Park Street, the man continued to ride his bicycle on the trail and ended up in a parking lot at Monaghan Road and Lansdowne Street area. At that time, the officer drew their Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW), and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Lakefield man was arrested and charged with:
- Theft under $5000
The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court November 3, 2026.
Impaired Arrest
A 52-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Saturday evening.
At approximately 7:10pm on August 15, 2026, officers were called about a man hunched over the steering wheel of a vehicle in the Bensfort Road and Kennedy Road area. Upon arrival, officers further saw drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, a 52-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while prohibited
- Drive while under Criminal Code suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
- Drive while under suspension X3 (Highway Traffic Act)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and 45 day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court September 22,2026.
Mischief Arrest
A 26-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Saturday evening.
At approximately 8:20pm on August 15, 2026, officers on general patrol were approached about an incident in the intersection of George Street North and Dalhousie Street. At a about the same time, the Communications Centre also received several calls about the disturbance involving several people. Upon arrival, officers located a man matching the description given to police and further learned that the suspect had kicked and dented a vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Mischief Under $ 5,000
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Being intoxicated in public place (Liquor License Control Act)
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on August 16, 2026.
