Impaired Arrest

A 60-year-old Peterborough man is facing speeding and impaired charges after a traffic stop Thursday night.

Recently, the Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit has been receiving complaints about speeding vehicles in the area of Airport Road and Beardsmore Road.  At approximately 10:05pm on September 24, 2026, an officer on a traffic detail in response to those complaints recorded a vehicle going 76km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone. The officer conducted a traffic stop and while speaking to the driver noticed signs of impairment and open alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, a 60-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
• Speeding (Highway Traffic Act)
• Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor (Liquor License Control Act)

The accused was also issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court November 3, 2026.
