Peterborough Police Service participates in Commercial Vehicle Inspection Blitz

Officers with the Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit participated in the Halton Regional Police Service annual Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Blitz earlier this week.

In total, 312 trucks were inspected over the two-day event which involved over 100 police officers and ministry inspectors.  The Peterborough team conducted 18 inspections and took 7 commercial vehicles off the road.  One of the drivers was charged with impaired and had their license suspended.

Areas of concern included driver licensing, daily trip inspections, along with truck-oriented issues which included mechanical fitness, load security, and weights of trucks and loads. Brake and Tire defects made up the bulk of the mechanical defects observed.

The officers and inspectors involved have specialized training in commercial truck inspections.
