Impaired Arrest
A 17-year-old Cobourg female is facing an impaired charge after an incident Thursday morning.
At approximately 10:00am on June 11, 2026, officers were called to a parking lot in the Lansdowne Street and Willowcreek Boulevard area by concerned motorists after a woman was spotted passed out at the wheel. Upon arrival, they located the vehicle and upon speaking with the driver noticed signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old Cobourg female was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court, July 27, 2026.
Impaired Arrest
A 25-year-old Peterborough woman is facing several charges after an incident Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 1:30pm on June 11, 2026, officers were called to the area of Murray Street and Aylmer Street about a woman passed out at the wheel of a running vehicle. A Traffic Unit officer was in the area and responded. The officer located the vehicle parked sideways in an alley and approached it, finding a woman passed out in the driver’s seat. Officers were able to wake the woman and noticed signs of impairment. The woman was also wanted on a warrant.
As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Fail to comply with Probation Order
- Driving while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
- Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit (Highway Traffic Act)
- Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates (Highway Traffic Act)
- Use plate not authorized for vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
- Fail to have insurance card (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused was issued a 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court July 21, 2026.
Motor Vehicle Collision
A 21-year-old Bowmanville woman was charged under the Highway Traffic Act after an incident that ended with a car striking a building.
The incident happened just before 2:00pm on June 11, 2026, on Park Street in the area of Albert Street and Chamberlain Street, when a vehicle attempted to stop for the rail safety arms and veered into the building. While there was significant damage to both the vehicle and the building, the driver and a small child were not injured, and neither was anyone in the building.
As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old Bowmanville woman was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Careless driving
