Luring/Sex Offences Arrest

A 29-year-old Trent Lakes man is facing numerous charges after an investigation into an incident involving a teenaged girl earlier this month. 

On Thursday, July 30, 2026, officers with the Peterborough Police Service Sex Crimes Unit executed a search warrant on a home in Trent Lakes. 

As a result, 29-year-old Dustin James Hofstede of Trent Lakes was taken into custody and charged with:

  • Sexual Interference
  • Sexual Assault
  • Indecent Exposure to a Person Under 16
  • Luring a Person Under 16
  • Transmit Sexually Explicit Material to a Person Under 16
  • Sex Offender Registry - Provide False Information
  • Fail to Comply with Prohibition Order X3
  • Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order (replica firearm)

The accused was held in custody, appeared in court Thursday, July 30, 2026 and was remanded into custody. He will appear in court today, Friday, July 31, 2026.

Investigators believe there may be other victims, and some incidents may not yet have been reported to police. We are asking anyone with information to call Detective Constable Potts at 705-876-1122 x285 or Peterborough Police at 705-876-1122 x555.

In order to facilitate more potential victims coming forward, we are releasing the accused’s name and photo in accordance with the provisions of the Community Safety and Policing Act (2019; 80(2).

 

Theft Arrest

A 42-year-old Peterborough man is facing theft charges after an incident Thursday evening.

At approximately 8:20pm on July 30, 2026, officers were called to a store in the Charlotte Street and Aylmer Street area about a theft in progress. Upon arrival, officers were able to identify a suspect and located him a short distance away from the store.  During the investigation it was determined that the suspect was wanted in two other theft incidents from July 8, 2026, and July 28, 2026.

As a result of the investigation, a 42-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Under $5000 X3
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order X3

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not attend the stores in which the above incidents happened.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, July 31,2026.

 

Motor Vehicle Collision – Lansdowne and The Parkway

The Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit is investigating after a collision in Peterborough Thursday.

The collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle happened at the intersection of Lansdowne Street and The Parkway at approximately 12:50pm on July 30, 2026.

The motorcyclist was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre with minor injuries.
