Break and Enter Suspects Sought – UPDATE

Officers with the Peterborough Police Service have identified three people in connection with a series of break and enters at a construction site recently.

At approximately 9:50pm on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, officers were called to the site on Deline Street about young people on the property trying to set a fire. Upon arrival, officers located and arrested two males. Through investigation a third male was identified and arrested, and it was determined, these youths were also involved in two other incidents (April 11 and April 20) at the same construction site.

As a result of the investigation,

A 12-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:

• Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence – mischief X3
• Arson – Damage to Property

The accused was released on a youth undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court June 9, 2025.

A 14-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:

• Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence - mischief X3
• Arson – Damage to Property
• Obstruct Peace Officer (providing a false name)

The accused was released on a youth undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court, June 9, 2025.

A 16-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:

• Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence – mischief X3
• Arson – Damage to Property

The accused was released on a youth undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court June 9, 2025.

Fraud Arrest

An 18-year-old Oshawa man wanted for fraud involving a victim from Peterborough was arrested in Vaughn recently.

On Saturday, April 19, 2025, the suspect was arrested on the strength of the warrant and charged with:

• Fraud over $5000

He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court May 27, 2025.

In November 2024, officers with the Peterborough Police Service Fraud Unit were made aware of a fraud of almost $7000 in which an email was fraudulently attached to the account of the victim redirecting funds from the victim’s account to the suspects account on three different occasions at the end of October 2024. Through investigation, the identity of the suspect was determined and a warrant for their arrest was requested and awarded in mid-April.

Traffic Initiative

Officers with the Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit conducted a traffic initiative around distracted driving on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

The officers spent time at various locations in Peterborough and Lakefield.

In Peterborough, 6 tickets were issued for cell phone use, speeding, and no mud guards due to oversized tires.

In Lakefield, 5 tickets were issued for red light infractions and disobeying signs (turning left at a no left turn intersection)

Driving while using a cell phone carries a fine of $615.00 and upon conviction could result in 3 or 6 demerit points.
